Wireless lan quality

I have a wireless lan at home. Two computers, a desktop and a laptop have wirless nics that connect to a WAP (Wireless Access Point) that's connected over the ether to another desktop that's the ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) box.

All the equipment is dlink brand... A DWL-1000AP Access Point, DWL-650 PC Card nic, DWL-500 desktop pc card adapter. The network quality and speed is rather poor however. From the WAP to my desktop it can't be more than 30 feet yet lately my connections have been very poor and drop all together daily.

I've been playing with everything but nothing seems to get the quality up there where I belive it should be.

Just though I'd share folks on my experiences. Oh and btw... If you have a DWL-1000AP go to the dlink site and upgrade your firmware on the WAP! The newest verison includes a web-based interface which is much easier to use than the old dlink WAP manager program...
