The future of EMail

I found this interesting website from the Collaborative User Experience (CUE) team at IBM Research called Remail.

It stands for Reinventing Email. Basically the researchers spend some time studying and understanding the way that people use email. The website shows the results of the study. They've designed a prototype of how a more efficient email program should work.

There are some very interesting ideas they've shown. Things like thread arcs which are used to visually show the flow of a email conversations are pretty cool. They've shown very powerful ways to deal with problems that email users face on a daily basis. Obviously this is a geeky thing to care about but it's worth a check out even for joe users to see the possible future of where email might go.
