I'm on vacation!

Ha, I'm on vacation right now! Technically spring break starts Saturday. However, I don't have Friday classes and I was done with my classes by 12:30 today. So I'm on my spring break. It's too early though honestly. I really wish the spring break was later when the weather is nicer. I mean sure if you go to Florida or Mexico it's fine. Unfortunately, for poor bastards like myself I have to stay home. It doesn't feel like spring break when you can look out your window and still see the evil white stuff on the ground.

Anyways, there's no big post today. I'm too burned out from tests and homework these last two week to find anything interesting to talk about. There was a programming assignment and exam in my computer graphics class and exam in networking.

Plus, I've been pretty busy with personal projects. I have a disgustingly long todo list up on my whiteboard in my room right now. Currently, I'm developing a website for my fathers union division. It's going to be a pretty big project. Unlike most of the other union websites I've looked at this will knock the socks off everyone. There will be news postings, newsletter manager, links page, contact page, and perhaps even a simple forum. It will be fully database driven with a complete administration backend that will allow whoever ends up maintaining it to change content from a easy to use web interface.

It's going to be the most ambition project I've done yet. Luckily, I've got a whole week with the vacation to work on it. My current schedule is looking to go like this:
Sunday - Database design finalized and created / Member login system online and functioning
Monday - Newsletter subscription manager
Tuesday - Links page
Wednesday - Contact page
Friday - News posting system
Sunday - Administration control panel

That covers just about every I plan to get done except the forum. The problem is a message board is a complex thing to build. I'm not sure if I will build that from scratch or perhaps take one of the open source free forum systems such as phpBB and customize it to fit into the website.

Try Invision Board .  It’s widely use and liked.

Half these union guys can’t figure out how to do email let alone surf the web.  Invision Board would be overkill for them.  That’s half why I’m thinking of just doing a forum from scratch.  I can make the thing easy and simple to use, even for retards.
