Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Today is sort of a bad day for Valentines.  It’s a Monday and raining, not very romantic.

Still, we’ll make the best of it!  This morning I awoke to a surprise delivery from my girlfriend.  She left a gift bag with a cool t-shirt and some chocolates (yummy!).  Then she surprised me again by bringing me lunch at work.  How sweet is that!

In a bit we’ll be going out to dinner.  Nothing fancy but still a nice treat.  Then we’ll come back to my place and watch a movie and cuddle the night away.

I wish the rest of you out there a good V-Day as well.

Hey, just thought you’d see this comment since it’s your latest entry. But this comment is actually about the UPS entries you did a while back. I’m just starting to work for UPS in Canada (I’m only up to completing the second interview so far). So far the facility, and the procedures seem EXACTLY the same, so your posts have been helpful. Are you still working there? If so, how’s it going for you?

Also, this is completely unrelated, but I’m just curious, what do you not like about liberal ideas? I’m probably more of a conservative myself, but I’m so much more used to seeing the blogging types on the internet being Liberal, so I’m just curious.

Anyhow, thanks for those UPS posts again.

Yea, I’m still working at UPS.  It’s going pretty good.  I got my first pay raise about 2 weeks ago.  I’m up to 9 bucks an hour now.  That extra 50 cents sure helps!

As for not liking liberal ideas.  It’s just how I was raised.  It’s that simple.  I grew up in a conservative envirionment and was raised to belive in certain ideas.  Those being small government, low taxes, strong national defense, taking care of yourself and working hard to earn your living.

Seems like the main difference is that you guys get paid a bit more down there, even with the relatively low exchange rate right now.

Works out that we start at around $7.70 US, up to $8.12 US after 90 days..

They do give $1,218 per semester of education in tuition reimbursment, which makes it a pretty good deal, though..

Yea the start pay is based on the current contract that was negotiated so it’s different at every hub.

I’m not sure what the per semester cap is but they cover up to 23,000 total here.
