Easter

Yet another Easter has come around. Didn't go to church though so I guess I'm in trouble or something. I don't really care though. Being Roman Catholic mass is rather depressing on Easter. The priest reads the story of Jesus being crucified and rising on the 3rd day then afterwards will do a little monologue. He'll say some stuff about how Christ died for our sins and we should be thankful, be better human beings, etc. Priests usually go on a rant about the kind of love a person would have to be willing to die for everyone, would we every be willing to do that, etc. Basically, it's a big guilt trip on us.

It's not that I don't believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit it's just that Catholicism can be such a downer of a religion. Not that any of the other ones are any better. The ones with all the dancing, music, etc are just as annoying to me. I guess I've just burned out on organized religion. Plus, the way they handled the scandals just has me upset.

Personally, I think the best thing God would want from me is just to be a good person. I try to be friendly to everyone, help others around me, I open doors for ladies, I let others take an elevator if there's limited room, I try to keep from tailgating when I'm driving on highways, I slow down to let people get into the fast lane if I notice they're stuck behind a semi and traffic is pretty heavy, etc, etc. I could go on and on in ways I try to be a good person. I think God would be happier that I do those things than if I spend an hour a week in a church following some ritual mass sequence.

Anyhoo, I went to my grandmother and grandfathers on my mother's side. I like going there but the food is always pretty bad. That side can't cook unless it involves a microwave. It's always box mixes and precooked heat-n-eat food. Luckily my mother has learned plenty of good recipes and cooking skills from my father's side. My mother made homemade dressing and 7-layer jello dessert. That dressing is to die for. It's that good! It goes back to our New England relatives. Normally it's oyster dressing although my mother makes a plain chicken style since most people don't like the seafood. So I hate ham, dressing, jello dessert, deviled eggs, etc. I'm just totally stuffed it's not funny.

Afterwards I played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on my cousin's X-Box till we left. I did take some time to show pictures of CPAC to everyone. Well really just to show them what my girlfriend looked like. My grandmother though she was very pretty and said something else but I can't remember was it was now.

So, now I'm home and stuffed to the gills and chatting with my girlfriend on AIM about her Easter. I hope everyone had a good day too.

P.S. Did anyone else not know they make mini Cadbury eggs now. They put a dozen in a little egg carton. Thank you Hershey! The big ones are too much to eat but the minis are just perfect size!
