Building a computer for a friend - Part 2

I’ve ordered the following parts today:
ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256mb video card
1 gigabyte of Crucial DDR 3200 ram (2 x 512mb)
Antec Performance Plus II SX1040BII case w/ 400watt Truepower power supply
MAG 17” Black monitor

The following were ordered yesterday:
MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ cpu
Western Digital 120gig special edition hard drive
Sony dual layer dvd burner
NEC 1.44mb floppy drive

That leaves just the following items which I’ll pick up this weekend locally:
Keyboard
Mouse
Speakers

I should have everything delivered by the middle of next week and then I can start assembling.  I think I might write up an assembly guide as I go and take pictures of each step.  I sure that would be handy for many people.

Looks like a solid machine, your friend should love it.

Where did you end up ordering the parts from?  I am a Newegg freak now that I have ordered a few things from them.  They are usually nearly the cheapest, but I will pay a few extra dollars just because I know nothing will be a problem.

Yea everything came from newegg.  I’ve been using mostly newegg and zipzoomfly(formerly googlegear) for all my online orders the last few years.

Well ram I always get from crucial.com.

Most of the parts from my current system (see the “My Computer” link at the top) came from tiger direct.  That was 5 years ago back before they turned to trash.  The rest came buy.com.  I’ve also bought parts from Directron, Astak and MWave in the past.
