AOL users are blogging!
Run for the hills people! AOL is now providing blogging tools to their customers. According to the Boston Globe and I quote:"You know something's gone mainstream when it's offered as a new feature on America Online. AOL is about to bring ''blogs'' (weblogs or online journaling) to the masses in an upgrade it announced on Friday. AOL 9, which will be rolled out this summer, will offer ''AOL Journals'' to the company's 25 million subscribers so they can engage in the growing pastime of self-publishing online."
Yes that's right we can all read the exiting tales of Aunt Mildred going to see her nieces and nephews in Iowa and how she stopped at the giant flea market and found that lamb Hummel she needed to finish her farm animal collection. Oh the excitement!
We can finally read the never before told stories of 54 year old Jim and his sexual escapades of pretending to be 15 year old Katty and talking "girl" stuff in the TeenzOnly chat rooms! We'll get all the juicy details and the inside scoop before the made for tv movie of his arrest in the mall trying to hookup with an undercover cop!
I may be over the top a bit but considering the user level of AOL users I believe I can safely say this is the level of the journals we'll be seeing. Perhaps I'll be adding the AOL journal site to my browser block list. Just so I don't accidentally click a link to one of them and have my IQ lowered!
