9/11 and TV

With 9/11 coming this week there have been lots of shows about it. Most are pretty generic and honestly I can't stand watching them. However two stick out in my mind as being worth spending the time to watch.

Both are on PBS. The first is part of the "American Experience" show. It's called "The Center of the World - New York: A Documentary Film" It's not just a look at 9/11 attacks but looks at New York as a whole. It's actually a multi-part series on New York but this show in particular deals with the entire history of the World Trade Center. I just watched it yesterday night and it was very good. I really learned a lot of the history of the creation of the idea, the planning, politics, and lives involved with the WTC. It was very moving and positive as opposed to many of the 9/11 shows that only spend the time showing replay after replay of the planes crashing.

Sure it's important to remember what happen but after watching the same footage over and over it just sickens me to the point that I can't stand to watch.

The other show is part of the NOVA series and is called "Why The Towers Fell". It's probably one of the best you can watch to learn the details and fully understand exactly what happen. You get a very in depth look at how they conducted the investigation and what they concluded was the causes.

I highly recommend anyone interested in learning the engineering aspects of the events to watch it. You learn a lot and more importantly you get a chance to understand which for some can help to ease the pain.

At least for me it's the unknown and lack of facts that scare me the most. With nothing to grasp onto you end up with nothing but your raw emotions. As much as you should always have emotions you can never really begin the healing processes until you understand and accept the facts.

Anyhow go watch these shows.
