Next gen Nintendo console “Revolution” to have wi-fi

Kinda old news now but I’m just catching up on gaming news.  As a self-professed N-head I like to know what they’re up to…

Here’s a couple of links to read about everything:
http://cube.ign.com/articles/594/594935p1.html
http://planetgamecube.com/news.cfm?action=item&id=6094

The cool info is that the Revolution will be backwards compatible with the GameCube.  Thank goodness!  I hope this sets a trend for the future at the big N.  I hope whatever comes after the Revolution will be backwards compatible with both the Revolution and the GameCube.  I know it’s far fetched but I think they should support at least 2-3 generations back.  We as gamers pay a lot for games and there’s no reason that we shouldn’t be able to trade in the hardware for the next generation and still be able to use the current software we have.

Other bits of info.  The graphics chip “Hollywood” will again be made my ATI.  I like this fact a lot.  ATI is a top level graphics company and if the chipset is based on their current desktop graphics systems it’ll be one heck of a performance champ.

The cpu “Broadway” is being done by IBM.  A bit surprised by this one.  IBM is also developing the cpu for the next gen Playstation called Cell.  Although they aren’t saying that Broadway is anything like Cell I kind of have to wonder if maybe they’re going to be related.  What would be cool is if “Broadway” turned out to be a dual core PowerPC chip.  IBM makes the PowerPC chips that go into Macs and they’re planning to make a dual core PowerPC G5 cpu for the Macs.

Throw in a dual-core PowerPC cpu and a graphics chip from ATI and you’d have one heck of a system.  MMM yummy.

Finally the big news is the Revolution will have built in wi-fi.  The Nintendo DS has wi-fi and it looks like Nintendo is pushing forward with this as a standard feature for the future.  Very cool!  I like the idea of wi-fi built into all gaming systems.  I already have wi-fi setup in the house so I’d have instant networking out of the box.

I can’t wait to see more details about the Rev.  Looks to be a pretty sweet product.

We are finally live!

Well after a lot of hard work and some slacking I’m happy to announce that my girlfriends new and improved website is up and running.

I present you with Ninkybink Boutique!

Rebuilt from the ground up this is a full e-commerce website.  We are running Zen-Cart for our shop and payments are being managed with Paypal.

Now the shop is shut off right now because I still have to run a test order to make sure everything is configured properly but I wanted to get the word out that the site is up and running because after a month of work I’m excited to show it off.

Yet another update on the website

Most of the stuff is done… unfortunetly the domain transfer is in limbo someplace.  Man do I hate Network Solutions!  First we had to transfer control from bigstep’s special Network Solutions reseller system to a standard Network Solutions account.  That went through so then I sent the transfer request to have the domain moved from Network Solutions to 000Domains.com, my registar of choice.

Why do I use 000Domains.com?  Simply becuase they just do what I want to do, manage my domain names.  They don’t throw tons of crap at you trying to get you to use other services that are pointless.  Sure they’re not the cheapest place to register domains names but $13.50 a year isn’t that bad.  Betters than NS at 35 or whatever they charge.

So I sit here waiting for NS to do something.  Everything is authorized on my end.  The domain is listed in my 000Domains account but says it’s waiting for a response from the loosing registar.  I’ll doublecheck with my GF tonight to make sure she didn’t miss an email from NS verifying the transfer request but I’m pretty sure she hasn’t.

This is just rediculous that hoops I’m having to jump thru to take back control of something that belongs to my GF in the first place.

Honestly, I’ll be so glad when I never have to mess with Bigstep or Network Solutions again!  Blah!
