Happy 4th!
Probably a rather slow day for web surfers so no reason to post a big story. Just want to wish all my fellow Americans a Happy and Safe 4th of July!
Today should be a day not only to celebrate our independence but remember all of those that help keep the greatest country in the world free!
And now for the mandatory reminder. When playing with fireworks today be extra careful! Even little old sparklers hurt hundreds of children every year!

spam-bot tests cuase problems
In an article
News.Com reports that news spam prevention systems are cuasing problems for people with disablities.
"Many companies have recently begun requiring users to pass a verification test in order to access their services--typically by typing into a Web form a few characters that appear on the form in a guise that prevents a computer or software robot from recognizing and copying them. "
The problem lies in the fact that you must be able to see the characters in order to type them into the verification system. Something people with vision problems can't do!

Bloggers Protected from Libel
Wired News posted an article about a court rulling that protects Bloggers, Website Authors, and Email List Owners from being sued for libel.
From the story:
"The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last Tuesday that Web loggers, website operators and e-mail list editors can't be held responsible for libel for information they republish, extending crucial First Amendment protections to do-it-yourself online publishers."
